This module will teach you the general knowledge of transporting goods necessary to:



* participate in a 'transport optimisation study', the process of choosing a carrier and of negotiating a contract;

* manage a 'department' whose operations are other than transport?

* take responsibility in a transport company and thus acquire specialist transport knowledge/skills;

* consider transport activities in jobs related to logistics.



* Land transport of goods;

* Transporting goods by road;

* Road transport economy and rating;

* The domestic transport contract;

* Transporting goods by rail;

* International transport.

Conditions d'admission

* you should have studied the 'Introduction to logistics and managing the supply chain' module;
* you should have had work experience, however short in each transport activity if possible. A single day spent accompanying a delivery person can prove extremely valuable.
* The key text is: Yves Pimor " Logistique - Principes et méthodes " (2nd edition - DUNOD - Paris 2001). Strictly speaking, it is not necessary to read this text in order to understand this module, but it is nonetheless recommended. The module refers to certain chapters that are particularly useful.
